Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a TV host, journalist, philanthropist and author for more than 10 years. Her role also includes being the owner of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. She emigrated out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and obtained a MA from Cambridge University in Economics. She was the first person from outside the UK to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. When she graduated, she made her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which offered critical observations regarding the state of affairs. It was her celebrity that helped to attract several well-known contributors for posting their thoughts on news political, culture and politics. Arianna gained fame after she made the decision in 2003 to stand as an independent Candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed former Governor Davis. Aside from that, Arianna led a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as 12th on their list of the Top Popular Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their top 100 list in the year 2010. AOL, Inc. named her president of their media division in 2011, after they bought The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post included other AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a management and journalism consultant. Though she was close to her father, it was the relationship she shared with her mother that shaped her character. At a young age she demonstrated her leadership skills that she is still known for. At 16 years of age she emigrated into the United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college and was the third and first female to hold the position of president. In 1972, she graduated with a Masters in Economics. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic as well as a TV host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
